One Riddle – Two Women (Poem)

There are two women in your life
So you’ll forever feel torn.

The first came later but she’s the One.
The last image on your mind at night,
her sorrow eats you up.
On borrowed time
the arms of familiarity aren’t an option,
circumstances will steal her and you will find yourself broken – again.
She’s gone.
Succumbing to life without her? Also not an option
she’s back
– for now.

The second was your First – the first face to the day of your life,
your first word, your first real heartbreak,
the trauma of that dawn ruptured everything that could’ve existed between you.
Her name: enough to shake you to the core.
Try to forget and you’ll fail, she’ll forever be there here.
This time, this cord cannot be severed
try as you might
they will always remind you of her.
If not them then you will always remind you of her.
The face in the mirror belongs to each of you.

There are two women in your life
So you’ll forever feel torn.
Never feel complete, never feel whole.

One takes from you selfishly, the other is yours selflessly.

Two women in your life,
yet neither are truly yours.
